About Piccadilly

One of the Capital's most noted places, Piccadilly sweeps uphill with handsome houses on one side and Green Park on the other. It stretches from Hyde Park Corner right into the heart of Piccadilly Circus, where hoardings and bright lights surround the statue of Eros, and glitzy signs light up the night-time sky.

Interestingly, Eros was erected late in the 19th-century to the 7th Earl of Shaftsbury. It was designed by Sir Alfred Gilbert, and was the first monument in London to be made of Aluminium.

Piccadilly is a noted shopping area, with a range of hotels, restaurants and cafe's. It offers dazzling night-life, theatres and pubs. For daytime there is a host of historic buildings to explore, these include; The Burlington Arcade built in 1819 for Lord Burlington, and The Royal Academy of Arts, which is situated in Burlington House.
